I'm all proud of my literary title to this post but if it is really curtesy of "A Tale of Two Cities" and the [CraftLit Podcast] Things are going much better today. My husband found that he may NOT need to have surgery on his knee. The quadricep tendon is torn but not nearly as badly as we feared. It is possible that it may be able to heal on it's own. So we are in "wait … [Read more...]
A wrench in the plans
I was on a great roll with my blogging. I had plans for a nice post with pictures of projects, discussions on more upcoming projects and a story of helping someone at a craft store. But then it happened....  My wonderful husband, while bonding with his 6 year old son, took a wrong step and ended up being carted away in an ambulance. Here's the full scoop. It was the last day of … [Read more...]
So much yarn!
I got most of my recent [Webs] order today. It was like Christmas. I have a bit more that was on back-order. But I'm pretty sure this will keep me quite busy. I spent part of tonight loading my knit que. So the following items will be joining my WIP list in the next few days... Blue Suede Bikini After Dark Night ala Mason Dixon Icarus Shawl Elizabeth I Scarf A … [Read more...]
A discussion on vacation
I've been thinking a lot about vacation today. With a 3yo and a 6yo our options are limited. With a incredibly small budget we are limited even further. We have a 2 week window of time when nobody is in school(including dh) and before day camp begins. Since we don't do the tourist thing very well I've been trying to come up with alternatives. I stumbled across something that … [Read more...]
May To-Do List
My one year anniversary of learning to knit is coming up on June 1. Ok, so I'm not sure that it was exactly on June 1 that I learned to knit. But it was right around then so I'm going to go with it since it's easy to remember. The month of May always seems to be one of my most productive months of the year. I don't know what it is. Maybe it's because the days are longer and the … [Read more...]
False Starts and Some Progress
I cast on for a new lace project today. You won't be seeing pictures of it. It's been frogged and put aside. I may try again in the next few days.  However, I have finished the main part of the knitting on my [Booga Bag] I'm also 12 inches into the five feet of icord for the handles. I'm not terribly fond of making icord. Luckily, though, it's knit on 6.5mm needles and … [Read more...]
A Nice Evening Out
My husband and I went to an absolutely amazing piano recital last night at Carnegie Hall. My husbands co-worker's wife was the pianist. I knew she had advanced degrees in piano but I had not heard her play. It was a really wonderful experience and I had a chance to wear my recently completed Fir Cone Wrap! It kept me nice and warm the entire evening.  After the concert we had … [Read more...]
A Quick one
Not too much time to write today but I wanted to just drop a quick note.  Hubby and I will be heading to Carnegie Hall for the evening for a recital of the wife of a colleague of my husbands. Should be quite nice. I got a new dress for the occasion and chose it specifically to go with my Fir Cone Wrap. I am determined to get a picture of myself wearing this wrap sometime … [Read more...]

Sweaters in Progress, Etc.
In knitting news my Hopeful sweater is nearing completion. The sleeves are done and i'm working on the neck band. I know they look like different colors. The pictuer to the right is a better representation of the color. I need to either learn to use my camera or get some white fabric for a background.   I think I have a plan for how to finish my Rosebud Sweater. Again … [Read more...]
